What to do? Golf, Thoughts
|
I went out to play a round of golf this morning, after hitting about 30 balls at the range this morning.
I did this, only because I was hitting the ball pretty good at the range. My tempo was good, and I was hitting the ball pretty much where I was aiming.
But once I got on the course, all that changed. Not only were my tempo and rhythm way off, but half the time I couldn’t even make good contact on the ball, and when I did, it sure didn’t go where I planned.
I just don’t know anymore. I used to like to play golf. Last year I was playing 2 or 3 times a week. Now, I’ve only played about 4 times this year, and I really have no more desire to play.
Plus it was freakin’ hot, so I quit after 9 holes.
I can’t even imagine how anyone can play golf in Florida, or anywhere else in the East or Midwest. As a matter of fact, I can’t even imagine how people can live in those areas.
They must all be daffy!

No rest for the wicked Cycling
|
Well after racing at Eldorado Park last night, I was hoping for a relatively easy ride this morning.
The Wednesday ride can get a little fast, as we head south towards the coffee shop in Corona del Mar, depending on who’s there, but return trip home, is typically a very mellow ride along the beach bike path.
But today’s ride was unlike any other Wednesday. Not only were there more of us than usual (11), but more of the really fast riders were there as well, i.e. Brian, Brad, Guido (with a name like that you know he has to be fast), Scotty, and Cory (the 20 year old), so the ride along the beach was not to be.
The ride seemed more like a Thursday ride than a Wednesday ride.
Not only was the ride to Corona Del Mar faster than normal, but the ride back was even faster. At least it seemed faster, as I was not able to stay with the group the entire ride home.
I did manage to stay in untill about half way back, but at 32 mph, which is my top end on the flat (and we were on flat road), I was forced to drop off, somewhere between Goldenwest and Sea Point. I was so tired, I don’t even remember.
Anywaze, while I am disappointed in my performance, I do have a good excuse, having raced yesterday, among other things, at least I wasn’t the only one unable to keep up the pace. Plus it was a good workout, and now I don’t have to feel bad about not riding tomorrow.

Hot! Hot! Hot! Thoughts, Whatever
|
Well, it was supposed to start cooling down today, but you sure can’t prove it by me.
I just went for a walk to the bank, and I started sweating, the moment I walked out of the house.
I know I always say I prefer the heat over the cold, but sometimes there is just too hot, and today is such a case

Oh the fog! Thoughts
|
While there is a lot of debate as to the causes of global climate change, and whether we as humans are able to alter its effects, there is no doubt the climate is changing, and not for the better.
This year has already seen one of the most prolonged cold spells, in southern California, I can remember since moving here 26 years ago, and it is definitely been windier than past years.
Then the last couple of mornings, the weather has been just perfect at the house, but about 8 miles down the coast, towards Huntington and Newport Beach’s, the fog rolls in, and the temperature drops about 10°F.
And now this morning, the fog has moved in big time at the house. I can’t even imagine what it might be like along the coast.
This kind of weather, sure makes it hard deciding how to dress when going for a bike ride, or whether to ride at all, and the last thing I need in my life, at this time, are more decisions to make.
Oh well, I guess that’s what makes life so interesting. You never know what the future might hold.
