When will I ever learn?

categoriesCycling

As if it wasn’t enough going out Thursday, riding 53 miles when I knew I shouldn’t have, and paying for it afterwards, plus doing a hard ride yesterday, I go and do almost the same thing again today.

But instead of doing 53 miles, I did 59 miles, and those last 6 miles were as tough as they come.

The problem is, when I get out there with the group, it’s like admitting you’re not as good as everyone, if you turn around early. Plus it’s no fun riding back by yourself.

Typically there are at least one or two riders who turn around at various points along the route, but today was the first race of the season, so fewer riders showed up for the ride, and no one was planning on turning around until we reached Laguna, which is about 30 miles away.

That was a few more miles than I planned, but I went anywaze, because I didn’t want to ride back by myself, nor did I want to admit I couldn’t go that far.

I finished the ride, without much problem, except for my butt, which isn’t used to spending 3 hours in the saddle.

Fortunately, now that I’ve had a chance to eat, take a shower, and am relaxing, watching the golf tournament, I’m glad I finished the ride.

After all you know what they say

What doesn’t kill you, only makes you stronger
