It’s the middle of the day

categories Golf, Thoughts

Here it is 3 PM, and what am I doing? I’m sitting here in the family room watching television, and about to post an entry to my blog.

What I should be doing is going for a bike ride, but I just can’t get myself motivated.

This morning I got up, at what I thought was 4:30 AM. I went down stairs to make my tea, after which I planned on getting ready to go golfing with some friends.

But when I went back upstairs to start getting ready, I discovered it was only 2:30 AM!

How did I misread the clock by that much time? It has a bright LED display that shows up so clearly in the dark!

Anywaze I went back downstairs to shut off the tea pot, and then attempted to get an additional 2 hours of sleep.

Unfortunately, I was so keyed up, I could not go back to sleep, and ended up going back down stairs to surf the internet, until it was time to have breakfast and get ready to leave.

But now I’m just so beat, I don’t want to do anything except sit here in the family room, and do nothing.f

Maybe I’ll go for a short jog on the treadmill, just as soon as I get out of this chair. :)

I’m still here

categories Thoughts

In case anyone was concerned that I didn’t post to my journal yesterday. It’s just there hasn’t been much of consequence to write about lately.

I do think I have finally recovered from my previous illness, and my bike rides this past weekend, and am starting to feel pretty normal about now. WHEW!

I didn’t have a chance to ride today at work, like I had planned, since I had to leave work early today, do get some additional information, from our sister company, which is close by my home, regarding the problem, I talked about previously, that we are having with one of our customers.

Fortunately the severity and the urgency of that problem seems to be subsiding, so it is becoming less of a distraction, and we can start concentrating on other things now.

I did manage to get a 25 minute jog in on the treadmill when I got home this afternoon.  I find that helps take my mind off all the other problems in the world, and relieves a lot of stress.

Everyone should try it!

When will I ever learn?

categories Cycling

As if it wasn’t enough going out Thursday, riding 53 miles when I knew I shouldn’t have, and paying for it afterwards, plus doing a hard ride yesterday, I go and do almost the same thing again today.

But instead of doing 53 miles, I did 59 miles, and those last 6 miles were as tough as they come.

The problem is, when I get out there with the group, it’s like admitting you’re not as good as everyone, if you turn around early. Plus it’s no fun riding back by yourself.

Typically there are at least one or two riders who turn around at various points along the route, but today was the first race of the season, so fewer riders showed up for the ride, and no one was planning on turning around until we reached Laguna, which is about 30 miles away.

That was a few more miles than I planned, but I went anywaze, because I didn’t want to ride back by myself, nor did I want to admit I couldn’t go that far.

I finished the ride, without much problem, except for my butt, which isn’t used to spending 3 hours in the saddle.

Fortunately, now that I’ve had a chance to eat, take a shower, and am relaxing, watching the golf tournament, I’m glad I finished the ride.

After all you know what they say

What doesn’t kill you, only makes you stronger

A boring day

categories Thoughts

at least up until a few minutes ago, when I learned about all the goings on at work, since my trip to Dallas on Wednesday.

It’s really getting to be quite a soap opera there. I can hardly wait to go back to work on Monday!

Anywaze, other than that, this morning I tried unsuccessfully to upgrade my Wordpress software, and was fortunate enough to avert a major catastrophe.

I then proceeded to sit around the house, till about noon, watching TV and surfing on the internet, trying to figure out why I couldn’t upgrade my blogging software (remember I had a tough day yesterday, so I decided to rest today).

At noon I took a break, and went to the deli to get some bread, after which I went to the driving range, to hit some golf balls, followed by washing my bike, before settling in to write this post, and watch some more television.

All in all a pretty boring day, except of course, for the gossip from work! :)
